A homeschool hybrid is a partnership between the school and the family. Students attend Wildwood two days per week for guided instruction, community, and hands-on learning. On home days, families continue with assigned core work to keep their child progressing throughout the week.
This model offers the best of both worlds—support and structure, while still maintaining the flexibility and involvement of homeschooling.

For our pilot year (2026–2027), we are serving students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. Our long-term vision includes expanding into a mixed-age, elementary learning community.

Mornings are focused on core academics like reading, writing, and math through small group and individualized instruction.
After lunch, students have a short quiet/rest time.
Afternoons are dedicated to:
Nature exploration
Hands-on projects
Life skills
Creative expression
We also begin each day with Scripture, memory work, and praise to center our hearts and minds.

For our core academics — things like reading, phonics, math, and handwriting — we are currently planning to use Master Books. One reason I’m drawn to Master Books is that it feels very manageable and supportive for both school days and home days.
For our Morning Time and shared learning experiences, I’m especially excited about using Beautiful Feet Books. This curriculum uses what are often called “living books,” which are rich, engaging stories and literature-based learning experiences instead of dry textbooks.

Wildwood is designed as a partnership with families.
While it is a drop-off program on school days, we value parent involvement and may offer opportunities for:
Volunteer days
Helping with projects or activities
Being part of the community
On home days, parents guide their child through assigned work.
-
We focus on guidance over punishment. Our approach is rooted in:
Respect
Clear expectations
Teaching responsibility and self-control
We work with children to help them grow in character, not just correct behavior.
-
Wildwood offers a slower, more intentional learning environment.
Key differences:
Smaller, mixed-age setting
More time outdoors and hands-on learning
Individualized pace
Strong parent partnership
Faith integrated into daily life
We are focused on preparing children for life through meaningful learning, not just meeting standardized benchmarks.
-
Our goal is the opposite.
Because of our small group setting and individualized approach, many students actually gain confidence and grow more steadily.
We focus on building strong foundations in core skills while fostering a love of learning—both of which support long-term success.
-
We use a combination of:
Observation
Student work samples
Informal assessments
Rather than heavy testing, we prioritize understanding each child’s growth and communicating regularly with parents.
-
Wildwood operates as a homeschool hybrid program in partnership with families. We follow Nebraska guidelines and will communicate clearly with families about any requirements for homeschooling or enrollment.
-
Wildwood is a Christ-centered learning community. Our desire is to partner with families to nurture not only a child’s mind, but also their heart and character, grounded in truth.
Each day, we begin with:
Reading God’s Word
Prayer and praise
Scripture memory
Faith is not treated as a separate subject, but something that is woven naturally into the rhythm of our days—through conversations, relationships, and the way we approach learning and life together.
We aim to cultivate:
A love for God and His Word
Christ-like character
Gratitude, humility, and responsibility
Our Statement of Faith
Wildwood aligns with the historic Christian faith as summarized in the Apostles’ Creed:
We believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth. We believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
He descended to the dead.
On the third day He rose again;
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and He will come again to judge the living and the dead.We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy universal Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.We welcome families who are supportive of this Christ-centered foundation and desire an environment where faith is an active and meaningful part of daily life.
